'BEYOND STILLNESS' - PAINTING EXHIBITION AT JEHANGIR ART GALLERY BY SAJILA PERALASSERY

Mumbai: The versatile artist, sculptor and art educator, Sajila Peralassery, is holding her first painting exhibition in Mumbai at Jehangir Art Gallery from December 15th to 21st. Dr Roy John Mathew, President of World Malayalee Federation, will be the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony at 11.45 AM on the 15th.
A vibrant collection of 48 paintings showcasing the depth of nature's emotion and connection to mankind will be at display. Sajila's abstract and semi-abstract works are expressions of gratitude, introspection, and the search for inner color.
Her work has been showcased in solo exhibitions at various art galleries in Kerala and at the Cholamandal Artists' Village, Chennai. She has participated in major arts camps and residencies throughout India. She is the recipient of the Best Teacher Award (2023) and recognition from Thapasya International Art Foundation, Chennai.
Born in a serene village on the banks of a river in Kannur, the land of Theyyams, she grew up surrounded by the vibrant pulse of temple rituals, colors and music. Rooted in the cultural and festive soil of Kerala, as a child she would sit beside her weaver grandfather, mesmerized by the rhythm of the loom and the magical blending of colors. After completing her studies at the C. V. Balan Memorial Kerala School of Arts, an institution with over a century of artistic heritage, she looked up to Nature as her greatest teacher offering silent lessons in harmony, patience, and truth. She works as an Arts Teacher in Kuthubiyya English Medium School since 2022.
Deeply influenced by the artistic philosophies of Frida Kahlo and Vincent van Gogh, Sajila has evolved her own distinctive visual language - a profound embodiment of color, form, and emotion.
