Puducherry: With the Union Territory set to vote on April 9, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday intensified the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) campaign with a high-profile roadshow in Puducherry, drawing large crowds and operating under tight security arrangements.The NDA alliance in Puducherry includes the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the All India NR Congress led by Chief Minister N. Rangasamy, the AIADMK, and other regional partners, all aiming to consolidate their position in the upcoming Assembly elections.

Prime Minister Modi arrived in Chennai from New Delhi earlier in the day via a special flight before proceeding to Puducherry by helicopter, highlighting the significance of the electoral contest for the BJP leadership.At Puducherry airport, he was received by Chief Minister Rangasamy, senior BJP leaders, and party functionaries. Tight Security Ahead of Polls

The roadshow is being seen as a crucial effort to strengthen the NDA’s campaign momentum in the final days before polling. Party workers and supporters from allied groups turned out in significant numbers, creating a festive atmosphere across the route.

Given the Prime Minister’s visit, authorities enforced a stringent five-layer security arrangement across Puducherry. The entire route was heavily guarded, and drone usage was strictly prohibited to prevent any security threats.A heavy deployment of police and central security forces ensured the smooth conduct of the event. After concluding the roadshow, Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to return to Chennai by helicopter later in the evening.With campaigning entering its final phase, the visit is expected to provide a major boost to the NDA alliance ahead of the crucial April 9 vote.
